Black Horsehair Blunt Brush with Repousse Sterling Silver Victorian Handle
This is a black horsehair blunt contemporary Sumi-e brush that has a repurposed victorian sterling silver repousse handle from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The handle has a beautiful repousse ornamentation of both sides, engraved monograms on 2 sides and is stamped "Sterling 5702". It originally was a men's shave brush handle.
The handle is 2.5" in length and the horsehair bristle is 2.25" in length.
This type of course, stiffer bristle will make a wide variety of marks and is a very versatile brush type.
The victorian handle is in very good condition. It does have a minor crack on the top of the ferrule, which I have repaired with a strong epoxy. Other than that it is super clean and well preserved.
