Black Horsehair Sumi-e Paintbrush with Ceramic Ferrule

This unique and beautiful brush was made with a driftwood handle, a ceramic ferrule, and my premium black horsehair with natural uncut pointed tips. The bristle is 5" in length.

The handle is super satiny, smooth, and has a beautiful natural black and brown red color.

The horsehair has great flex, has strong spring, and will make a wide variety of marks. The brush bristle has a traditional Sumi-e style tapered shape. The brush bristle will hold a TON of media and can make very bold and dynamic marks. 

The ceramic ferrule has a beautiful crackle pattern and glacier blue color.

This is a large brush, the handle is proportionate to the brush head.

The brush has:

• A leather hanging strap 
• The handle is 13" in length, including the ferrule
• The ferrule is ceramic

Bristlehead:

• Is 5" in length 
• The brush head has a traditional tapered shape

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
