Black Horsehair Sumi-e Paint Brush with Ceramic Snake Ferrule

This unique and beautiful brush was made with bamboo root and stiff, black horsehair. The bamboo root handle has a ferrule made with a ceramic ferrule shaped like a snake. The horsehair is coarse, stiff, has great flex, strong spring and will make a wide variety of marks. The horsehair has been cut into a traditional Asian brush shape. 

The brush has:

• A leather hanging strap
• The ferrule is a natural barnacle

Bristlehead:

• The black horsehair is 3" in length
• The Handle is 10" in length

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
