This brush has super coarse and wiry grey horsehair bristles. The brush ferrule is porcelain, and the painted design was done by Elizabeth with her favorite feather brush. The super-coarse grey horsehair is very stiff, wiry, has great flex, strong spring, and will make a wide variety of marks, from wide/dynamic to very fine. It also has natural, uncut ends. The handle of the brush was created using a beautiful piece of driftwood from Flathead lake. It does have a slight curve, but it is nice to hold and is very compatible with the rest of the brush.
The brush has:
- A leather hanging strap
- The ferrule is porcelain
Traditional Sumi-e style bristle head:
- The grey horsehair in 8" length/width
- The driftwood wooden handle is 12" in length
My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
