Coarse Tail Hair Sumi-e Paint Brush with Ceramic Ferrule
This brush was made by Elizabeth. It has a very stiff, coarse, and flexible bristle head which I made using great horsehair. This brush will make a wide variety of marks, from wide dynamic to fine lines. The handle was made using a piece of driftwood that I found on the shore of Flathead lake.
The brush has a leather hanging strap.
This brush type can work with a lot of different media including, acrylic, gel mediums, and oil paint. The stiff bristles can move paint and make a lot of interesting textures and fine lines.
- Handle: 10" in length
- Bristle: 7" in length
My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
