This Sumi-e horsehair brush has a restored & repurposed antique shave brush handle, from pre-1920. The bristles are extra long (5" in length) and were made using my highest-quality premium black horsehair. The brush handle is hardwood and the paintbrush has a metal ferrule.

The premium black horsehair is very absorbent, super soft and has great flex. It will make strong and expressive marks or finer lines. The tips are natural, uncut, and pointed.

The handle has a beautiful patina and shape. The handle is in "original" condition.

Its different, and better, than black encaustic paint

The mixture of this paint creates a "grippy" feel. You can create defined lines and shapes without pooling or separating that sometimes occurs with commercial encaustic paints. The cube shape allows you to make different types of marks directly with the cube which is a great way to start drawing.

I used a variety of tools to make marks, silicone kitchen utensils, silicon art shapers, etc and nothing compares to the tools offered by Elizabeth. The are easy to handle and allow you to execute finite movement, they create defined lines and clear patterns. I purchased the smaller size because I am working on an 8x10 aluminum plate and its perfect.

Another beautiful bowl!

Using my ink bowls, made by Kim and decorated by Elizabeth, bring me pleasure every time I take them out. My newest bowl is a delight to look at with little orange fish darting round and it nestles in my hand as it it were custom made.
This pottery, along with Elizabeth's wonderful brushes, are gifts to myself. I delight in them!

Fun and expressive tool!

I love the versatility of this wide silicone brush/tool. Using fluid acrylic paint, with a light touch, I was able to get interesting results for the body of the chicken, and then made the nest with a skunk brush. Such fun!
