Large Horsehair Sumi-e Paintbrush With Bamboo Handle

This unique and beautiful brush was made with mixed semi-coarse horsehair and has a traditional Sumi-e bristle head shape. The handle was made with bamboo and is super satiny and smooth. The ferrule was made with a large piece of vintage bamboo. The bristle has a traditional Asian brush shape. The brush bristle will hold a lot of media and can make a wide variety of marks. This is a super large brush, made for those who want to go BIG! The bristle is 8" in length and is thick and full. The end of the brush has ammonite fossil and a leather hanging strap. The handle is long enough so you can paint while standing if desired. The bamboo ferrule had a surface crack which I filled with waterproof glue, it is totally solid. 

The brush has:

• A leather hanging strap
• The ferrule is made with bamboo

Bristlehead:

• The deer bristle is 8" in length 
• The Handle is 24” in length (total length including the ferrule is 30")

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
