Dark Auburn Horsehair Sumi-e Paint Brush With Porcelain Ferrule

This brush was made with an antique quill bobbin and my high-quality dark auburn horsehair. The brush has a porcelain ferrule with hand-drawn sgraffito designs. The high-quality dark auburn horsehair is semi-coarse, has great flex, strong spring and will make a wide variety of dynamic marks. The head of the brush is SUPER full and thick, it will hold a lot of media. The bristle is short and blunt, which creates a brush that can handle thick media, such as cold wax and gel mediums if desired.

The brush has:

• A leather hanging strap
• The ferrule is porcelain which has a handpainted sgraffito geometric design

Traditional Sumi-e style bristle head:

• The dark auburn horsehair is 1.75" X 2" in length/width
• The handle (including the ferrule) is 9.75" in length

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
