Large Fiber Fan Brush with Repousse Sterling Silver Victorian Mirror Ferrule
This contemporary Sumi-e brush has a repurposed victorian sterling silver mirror repousse ferrule from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The ferrule has beautiful repousse ornamentation. It is of British origin and is sterling silver. The maker's mark is visible.
The handle is 9.5" in length and the fiber fan bristle is 10" in length. The ferrule is 3.5" in length.
This is a wonderful brush type that can make a wide variety of marks - the fiber is very flexible, and has great spring.
The victorian ferrule iis made from the top half of a victorian repoousse sterling silver mirror. I used a strong epoxy to secure the fiber bristles and fill in the top area of the brush handle to provide greater strength and durability.
