Handmade Sumi-e Paint Brush With 2.75 inch Grey Horse Hair Bristles, on a 5.75 inch Bamboo Handle

This brush was made with TX bamboo and grey horsehair bristles. The bamboo is from the root of the plant. It has a lot of natural character, which I tired to bring out with my treatment of the wood. The bristles are somewhat course, they are a bit stiffer and have great flex. 

This brush was made using high quality horse hair, the handle has a been conditioned with beeswax paste. This brush has a leather hanging strap. 

Each brush I make is different and unique. I try to bring out the voices of the materials I use, connecting them with each other in a way that makes them feel complete.

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".

The 12 inch handle is really comfortable to hold
