Handmade Sumi-e Paint Brush With 5 inch Black Horsehair Bristles, With a 20 inch Bamboo Handle with Ceramic Ferrule

This brush was made by Elizabeth. It was made with TX  bamboo and black  horsehair bristles. The bristles are very stiff, course and have good spring/density. The bristle hairs 4 inches in length and 4.5 inches wide.

This type of bristle will make a wide variety of marks, since the bristles are very stiff they will create both bold solid marks, as well as fine varied lines.

This brush was made using high quality horse hair, the handle is 20 inches in length and has been conditioned with beeswax paste. The handle also has a natural stone embellishment with leather hanging strap. The brush has a ceramic ferrule.

I consider my brushes to be a work of art in themselves, that being said they are made to make art.

The 30 inch handle is really comfortable to hold
