Handmade Sumi-e Paint Brush with Image of Buddha Carved on the Handle

This brush was made with black bamboo and my premium quality grey horsehair. The bamboo handle has a leather hanging strap and has the image of Buddha and Wrath carved onto the handle. The premium bristles have great flex, are soft, absorbent and many of the tips a natural/uncut.

The brush handle has a craving of an image of Buddha and Wrath (see reference image below) which wraps around the handle. It is hard to photograph, and really shows much better in person. The brush as a leather hanging strap and has been embellished with a natural shell.

Each brush I make is different and unique. I try to bring out the voices of the materials I use, connecting them with each other in a way that makes them feel complete.

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".

The 11 inch handle is really comfortable to hold
