Large Sumi-e Paint Brush With Grey Horsehair

This brush was made with bamboo and my premium quality grey horsehair. The bamboo handle has a leather hanging strap and the end has a natural stone embellishment. The premium grey horsehair has great flex, is soft and many of the tips a natural/uncut.

This brush has a ceramic ferrule which I designed and made by hand. The handle is signed and has a designed carved on the handle.

The brush is light in the hand, yet can make very expressive and larger marks.

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
