This listing is for a very high-quality antique traditional Asian Sumi-e Ink Stick from China. It is 6"X1.50" X.25" and is black. The ink is water soluble. Traditionally, Sumi-e ink is made by grinding the ink stick which is made from pine soot in a small amount of water against a stone, also known as a slate, using circular motions of your hand and arm.
