Black Human Hair Sumi-e Paint Brush with Quill Bobbin Handle

This unique and beautiful brush was made with an antique quill bobbin and black human hair (11" from my son's girlfriend). The handle has metal bands and a slight texture. The black bristle is soft, has natural tipped ends, and is 11" in length. Human hair is used in Asia to make traditional Sumi-e brushes. It is not uncommon. This hair is very straight, which makes it ideal for bristle hair.

My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
