This is a high quality antique traditional Asian Ink stick is from China. It is 4.75 inches long X .1.25 inches wide and is black. The ink is water soluble. Traditionally, ink is made by grinding the ink stick which is made from pine soot in water against a stone, also known as a slate, using circular motions of your hand and arm.
