Coarse White Horsehair Paint Brush with Wormwood Handle
Coarse White Horsehair Paint Brush with Wormwood Handle
This brush was made with high-quality white, coarse horsehair, a ceramic ferrule, and wormwood. The handle was made with a piece of wormwood driftwood from the Flathead Valley.
The bristle is high-quality white horsehair that is super-coarse, has great flex, strong spring, and will make a wide variety of dynamic marks. The head of the brush is full and thick, it will hold a lot of media. The bristle is fairly short and tapered, which creates a brush that can handle thick media, such as cold wax and gel mediums if desired. If you are looking for a brush that is ideal for glazing and making scrubby marks this is it.
The brush has:
- A leather hanging strap
- A ceramic ferrule
Traditional Sumi-e style bristle head:
- The white horsehair is 2.25" in length/width
- The handle (including the ferrule) is 12" in length
My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
