Elizabeth & Gabby, two amazing teachers sharing different processes, talents & and a shared passion for ink & encaustics! They, along with their hard working spouses, hosted an incredible week of discovery!
As artist, many of us were in awe of the beauty of nature, the thoughtful, delicious, homemade & locally sourced food, tied together with a new experience of handcrafting our own brushes & mark making tools, was just next level!
What was at our disposal to use, buy and of course create, was a creatives “candy store” of amazement!
We discovered how to utilize ink & wax properties, practiced our “Zen”.
In a week’s long indulgence of ink & encaustics, and camaraderie, I discovered & created and headed home with a mind full of infinite possibilities!
Wonderful workshop on so many levels. Setting on the river was inviting and lovely. The food was delicious, homemade and plentiful. Considerable effort and attention was given for specific dietary restrictions. The instructors were knowledgeable and very generous in sharing of supplies and information. I especially enjoyed that both Elizabeth Showachtart and Gabriella Sanchez had their own methodology. It was a well rounded approach to making art. My recommendation is don’t miss this inspiring opportunity. Just do it!
Wonderful experience in this beautiful part of Montana. Two instructors blended well with their individual techniques coming together in true alchemy! I learned so much…my favourite part was making our own brushes for use at retreat and bringing them home The opportunity to go for inspirational nature walks to break up studio time was welcomed. The food was exceptional and accommodating for dietary restrictions.
The Alchemy of Ink retreat was an awesome experience of learning, experimenting, and intimate engaging and learning that I enjoyed completely. The beautiful setting, combining nature and art, made it feel deeply spiritual and inspiring. The studio tour and home cooked meals added a unique touch that enhanced the whole experience. I loved every minute and am so grateful for the opportunity to be present..
When I first used the multiline silicone blade I really didn’t expect much…just a few new lines. However, it surprised me! The creative lines and curves that I make with it are truly exciting. I love it and use it daily. I love experimenting with multiple colors and making waves. If you try it, I believe you will love it too💥❤️💥
All my new tools are bringing new life to my paintings.its always exciting to try something new, but I’ve found so many variations of mars and lines that I find myself holding one—or more—in my hands as I work to interchange swirls and marks and lines.
It’s the best brush, except for all the other brushes Elizabeth makes.i work in oil sticks and cold wax and I love how I can create a patina of sorts, with so many uncontrolled marks. Very cool.
I had a one on one with Elizabeth. I'm a beginner and she covered many aspects of encaustic with carbon in the hour. Her set up is really great and my call from Australia went without a hitch. Elizabeth answered all my questions thoughtfully and I'm keen to use the carbon and tools that she sent me. I look forward to working with Elizabeth again and learning more about this amazing medium.
I recently received a set of your carving tools and I can’t wait to try them out. Shipping was prompt and everything perfectly packed. Your customer service and additional note were appreciated.
I especially like the wooden handles with the rounded tops…..they feel great in the hand with no straight edges to irritate my hands. Thank you!
I love everything about this bowl. First, it’s made impeccably well, with lovely detailing on the underside, and it sits flush, with a lovely weight and nice rim. Then, the painting! So much movement and life to the schooling fish. Masterful brushstrokes, really. I’m beyond pleased.
