The quality and craftsmanship of the brush is outstanding! I played with the brush
when I received it to see what I could create with it. Amazing! Plus when I hung it on the wall it’s a piece of art in itself. Beautiful work Elizabeth I’ll definitely be purchasing again. Helen Marino
Love Elizabeth's silicone tools. Beautiful and functional. A great addition to an artist's tool chest!! HIghtly recommend
The Handmade Art Brush is beautifully made, a work of art in itself. It allows me to create dimensionality in my work, as well as create more representational work than I was able to before. Well worth it!
have completed four one on one sessions with elizabeth three on silicone tools for encaustic monotypes as well as using her carbon encaustic paint and all were great super informative and well prepared for just signed up for her sumi e one on one and very excited!
I purchased this amazing encaustic carbon wax from Elizabeth and saw that she had a one-on-one class with ideas on it’s uses. So I signed up and I did not regret it! I learned a heck of a lot from her in half an hour! She is a natural at mark making and gave me many of her secret tips that I will value forever!
This brush can make bold and delicate marks. The fibers are very flexible plus it’s a beautiful brush
I have ordered several brushes from Elizabeth.
I have never been disappointed. The quality of her work and materials is what keeps me coming back. She usually finds very unique handles to compliment the brush materials. All beautifully made. I have to nudge myself to actually dip them into the ink!
This particular brush (Deer Tail Sumi-e Paint Brush with Beautiful Natural Tipped Ends) is very unique. It will create many different strokes to fit the state of your mind. From very delicate to energetic and dynamic.
My interactions with her have been wonderful. I get my brush within a week of being ordered and it is packaged very well.
I recommend Elizabeth the the Zen Brush classes I teach!
Check our her site. You will not be disappointed!
this brush is very beautiful! I have not had a chance to use it yet, but it looks like it will make beautiful marks.
I recently purchased some of Elizabeth’s silicone tools and some of her carbon black wax and was immediately struck by her exquisite mark making in her art. I signed up for a one on one zoom tutorial with her and it was definitely worth the price of admission! we spent an hour going through the kinds of marks that could be made with the tools and how to get the best from the wax and pulling prints. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in getting the most out of their ‘play time’ in the studio.
I LOVE this brush. I used it in some wet acrylic paint and it produced such wonderful lines and texture. I just used it again on the side to scratch some grass clumps into some wet acrylic. Awesome 😊🎨
I have several metal droppers with failing bulbs. I was delighted to find I could replace them instead of throwing the whole dropper away.
Beautiful brushes .
Beautiful, functional and fun!
Authentic, poetic, gorgeous.
I love this fiber fan brush. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the size is perfect. I am having fun playing with it and learning all the kinds of marks that it will make. It definitely has a personality of its own and that was just what I was looking for.
In late 2015 I started Elizabeth Schowachert Art as a way to connect with other artists and share my contemporary Sumi-e brushes, silicone tools, and other art materials which I have been making and working with for a number of years.
I am fortunate to have spent a lot of time in Asia and as a result has grown to love the culture, place, and people. During my time in Taiwan in particular, I became interested in the tools and materials used by artists working in the guóhuà and Sumi-e style of painting and especially interested in the handmade papers, and brushes. Over the years I have adapted many of these materials/processes into my own art practice and more specifically around my brush making, which I feel falls into the category of contemporary Sumi-e.
The products you will find in my store are the tools and materials that I use most often within my own art practice: unique high-quality contemporary Sumi-e brushes, handmade scroll paper, and various other artist tools that work well with encaustic, encaustic monotype, cold wax, gel printing, and mixed media applications.
My online Art Gallery also offers my original artwork, encaustic paintings, encaustic monotype, and mixed media scrolls.
I also want to give a call out to my partner Kim Filiaggi, she throws all of my ceramic ferrules, brush holders and Sumi-e ink bowls. In addition to making my ferrules etc. she also has an Etsy store where she sells her beautiful ceramic work please visit www.kimfiliaggipottery.etsy.com to find out more.
