Professional Artist's Tools and Sumi-e Paintbrushes
Such a cool brush! I love that I can move from a single line of color to many lines. Swirls and thick movements of acrylic paint and ink. Control but not. So glad I purchased it.
I never know how my strokes will appear on paper. This leads me to the challenge of … Whst’s Next?
Exquisite quality tools!
Mon ami prend beaucoup de plaisir à utiliser ce pinceau, beauté, prise en main, et les effets dus à la coupe des crins
I love doing big bold abstracts with large brushes BUT the finishing touch is with this brush. Painting thin to a bit thicker lines is my delicate touch for a great contrast. Love the long handle!!!
The Silicone Drawing Tool - Rounded Slant makes much more interesting marks than your average silicone tool
The Stiff Silicone Paint Brush With Vintage Bobbin Handle makes wonderfully expressive marks when used in creating encaustic monotypes
I love the Asian paper that I ordered and will surely want more. It is really good quality…buttery smooth and durable. I strongly recommend it!
When Elizabeth recommended skunk hair for a brush I was surprised….but when she demonstrated what it can do with the ink…I fell in love with it. It is so versatile in mark making it has become my go to brush for both fine lines and bolder strokes. And the bamboo handle done with her signature mark making turns it into a piece of art in itself.
Lovely to look at but fantastic to use!
This blade makes a variety of complex lines. It is so much fun to see different widths being pulled in different directions. And it's a beautiful instrument like all of Elizabeth's creations.
Packaged incredibly well; arrived in perfect condition isoon after ordered. Lovely paper!!
Elizabeth & Gabby, two amazing teachers sharing different processes, talents & and a shared passion for ink & encaustics! They, along with their hard working spouses, hosted an incredible week of discovery!
As artist, many of us were in awe of the beauty of nature, the thoughtful, delicious, homemade & locally sourced food, tied together with a new experience of handcrafting our own brushes & mark making tools, was just next level!
What was at our disposal to use, buy and of course create, was a creatives “candy store” of amazement!
We discovered how to utilize ink & wax properties, practiced our “Zen”.
In a week’s long indulgence of ink & encaustics, and camaraderie, I discovered & created and headed home with a mind full of infinite possibilities!
Wonderful workshop on so many levels. Setting on the river was inviting and lovely. The food was delicious, homemade and plentiful. Considerable effort and attention was given for specific dietary restrictions. The instructors were knowledgeable and very generous in sharing of supplies and information. I especially enjoyed that both Elizabeth Showachtart and Gabriella Sanchez had their own methodology. It was a well rounded approach to making art. My recommendation is don’t miss this inspiring opportunity. Just do it!
Wonderful experience in this beautiful part of Montana. Two instructors blended well with their individual techniques coming together in true alchemy! I learned so much…my favourite part was making our own brushes for use at retreat and bringing them home The opportunity to go for inspirational nature walks to break up studio time was welcomed. The food was exceptional and accommodating for dietary restrictions.
I would highly recommend this retreat.
The Alchemy of Ink retreat was an awesome experience of learning, experimenting, and intimate engaging and learning that I enjoyed completely. The beautiful setting, combining nature and art, made it feel deeply spiritual and inspiring. The studio tour and home cooked meals added a unique touch that enhanced the whole experience. I loved every minute and am so grateful for the opportunity to be present..
