White Horsehair Sumi-e Paint Brush with Ceramic Beetle Ferrule SPB #110
White Horsehair Sumi-e Paint Brush with Ceramic Beetle Ferrule SPB #110
This unique and beautiful brush was made with bamboo, a ceramic ferrule, and premium quality white coarse horsehair. The handle is super satiny, smooth, and has a beautiful natural ribbed shape. It also has an image of a beetle carved into the mid-section of the handle. The handle also has a natural stone (from Taiwan) on the end.
The horsehair is semi-coarse, has great flex, strong spring, and will make a wide variety of marks. The brush bristle has a traditional Sumi-e style tapered shape, and it is long, 6" in length. The brush bristle will hold a TON of media and can make very bold and dynamic marks. Because the bristle is coarse, it also works well making fine lines and unexpected marks.
The ferrule has an image of a beetle on it which was handpainted by Elizabeth. The handle also has a beetle image carved into the mid-section.
This is a large brush, the handle is proportionate to the brush head.
The brush has:
- A leather hanging strap
- The handle is 18" in length, including the ferrule
- The ferrule is ceramic
Bristlehead:
- Is 6" in length
- The brush head has a traditional tapered shape
My brushes are made to create a vast array of marks. When I make a brush I think about all aspects of the tool: how it looks, how it feels in the hand, and how it paints - to ensure that the end product is a true "fine art tool".
