Fine Point Deer Tail Sumi-e Brush – Long Tip Bamboo Brush

This handmade Fine Point Deer Tail Sumi-e Brush features natural white deer tail bristles formed into an exceptionally long, tapered point. Designed for ink painting and expressive mark-making, the fine tip can produce delicate lines while the length of the bristle allows the stroke to expand dramatically with changes in pressure and movement.

Deer tail bristle offers a responsive balance of flexibility and control. Working from the very tip creates fine, precise marks. Lowering the brush and applying additional pressure engages more of the bristle, producing wider lines, organic shapes and expressive gestural strokes.
The approximately 2.5-inch bristle length also provides good ink capacity for longer, continuous marks. The elongated point makes this an especially versatile brush for artists interested in exploring line quality, pressure, movement and the relationship between brush and paper.
The dark bamboo handle is approximately 7.5 inches long, excluding the hanging loop. Its slender profile allows the brush to be held close for greater control or farther back for loose, gestural mark-making.
Each brush is handmade using natural materials, so slight variations in the deer bristle and bamboo handle are expected.
