Premium Black Horsehair Brush with Driftwood Handle

This handmade brush features premium black horsehair with natural, uncut tips set into a hand-finished driftwood handle. The wide brush head and long bristle create a responsive brush for expressive mark-making, ink painting and large, gestural strokes.

I selected and shaped the driftwood by hand, sanding the entire surface and removing any sharp edges while retaining the natural curves, knots and character of the wood.

The brush head is made with premium black horsehair with uncut natural tips. Keeping the natural tips intact gives the bristle a fine, responsive edge and allows individual strands to separate and create variation within a mark.

The long horsehair has excellent absorbency and holds a generous amount of ink or other water-based media. The bristle has soft flex and a nice spring that responds well to pressure and movement. Use the full width of the brush for broad, sweeping strokes, work from the edge for narrower marks, or allow the natural tips to separate for more broken and textural lines.

Care

Rinse the bristle thoroughly with clean water immediately after use. Gently reshape the brush head and allow it to dry naturally. Do not soak the driftwood handle or leave the brush standing in water.
