This handmade brush is designed as both a functional painting tool and a sculptural object. The naturally twisted driftwood handle introduces movement, rhythm, and tactility, making the brush as engaging to hold as it is to use.

I’m particularly drawn to the sculptural presence of this piece. The knots, bends, and organic curves of the wood create a quiet sense of motion while guiding the hand intuitively. The handle shape encourages a looser grip and responsive mark-making, allowing subtle shifts in pressure to translate directly into the stroke.

The brush head is made with premium white horsehair that has been cut and shaped into a softly rounded profile. The bristles have a gentle outward splay, giving the brush versatility for fluid lines, soft edges, and expressive passages depending on angle, pressure, and paint load.
