Tampico Fiber Brushes
Tampico Fiber Brushes
These brushes are made with bamboo and Tampico fiber. The bamboo handles all have a burned-in striped pattern
Tampico fiber is super flexible (you can bend it in half and it will snap back), it is also a very fine fiber. Because of this, it works really well as an alternative to more traditional materials.
The fiber itself is from the cactus known by its common name, lxtle. The Agave Lechugilla plant is unique to northern Mexico where it only grows in the high altitude deserts. After the cactus leaf is harvested the fibers inside the leaf are extracted, dried, and processed to length.
Like any natural fiber, the bristles are completely biodegradable, making them an environmentally responsible choice.
About The Brush
These brushes have a short bristle length all about 1.5" in length and the fiber is coarse. The key to this type of brush is having a short, coarse bristle, that is shaped flat on top. I designed the bristle head shape with the idea of maximizing the area of contact with the surface of the painting. The coarseness of the bristle makes this brush an excellent choice for creating texture and subtle lines - It can work with Cold Wax, gel mediums, ink, and other media.
Each brush listed here retails for $99

Clean-Up Information for Oil Based Media:
- Use a common art solvent (such as odorless paint thinner) to remove paint/cold wax, then wash thoroughly with a mild soap such as Dove or Murphy's Oil Soap to remove all residual solvent and media.
- Use your fingers/palm to rub the bristles to remove the residual media from the brush head.
- Never leave your brush or tool sitting in-solvent
- Clean after every use.
- Make sure to thoroughly clean and rinse off the solvent. Leaving solvent on without removing it with water and soap will damage the brush.
- Use a clean towel to remove any residual moisture, shape head, and hang by the strap to dry
