4" Wide Silicone Paint Brush With Bamboo Handle WSB 134

This 4" wide silicone brush is specifically for working with encaustic medium on a hot box. It can be used with other media, however, because it is silicone, it will hold up to the heat and has flexible bristles that make it ideal for working on a hot box. The design of the brush ensures long-lasting performance and can provide even application of encaustic wax and other mediums.

This particular brush is 4" wide and has some stiffness that allows it to pull off medium from the hotplate. It will also make both controlled and more spontaneous or random feeling lines.

The 8.5"  handle allows the artist to dynamically move the brush across the plate creating interesting and unexpected marks. The handle was made with bamboo and has a burned-in pattern. It is the perfect size and length for this brush.

How To Care For A Silicone Brush

To effectively clean the brush of wax, immerse only the bristles in very hot water and use a paper towel to remove any melted wax. Utilize a kitchen brush with liquid soap and warm water, carefully avoiding tugging at the bristles, and wiping with a paper towel to remove excess paint. Periodically, set the bristles on a hot surface to melt away wax and use a paper towel to eliminate any residual medium from the brush tips. Heat-tolerant silicone ensures that the brush will not break down when used on a hot surface.
