Goat Hair Sumi-e Paintbrush with Bamboo Handle

This brush was crafted by Elizabeth, utilizing bamboo and white goat hair bristles. The brush head features a traditional Sumi-e tapered shape to enable versatility in marks created. Additionally, the natural bristles of this brush enable a range of painting techniques, from smooth, gentle blending to more dynamic strokes.

This brush features a ceramic ferrule with metallic glaze and a bamboo handle with a burned-in striped design, complete with a leather hanging strap.

Goat hair or 羊毛, Youmou is flexible and durable, yet super soft and very absorbent.  Soft brushes are a bit more challenging to master, but if used skillfully deliver very interesting, and to an extent, unpredictable lines.

• The bamboo handle is 11" in length and has been, polished and conditioned with beeswax paste.
